Vanity

What is vain? How do you become to vain? Can you be to vain or to unvain?

"There are more things in heaven and earth"
Or is there. Do we just hope that there is more?

Sun Burst

Some say that a sunset is romantic, tranquil, uplifting and beautiful. No one can refuse that a sunset at its paramount is stunning to the eye and can transcend just beauty when shared with a person you love, embracing that second were everything comes together. The senses overwhelmed, feeling emotions of love, happiness, the sight of the sun reflecting off the clouds dazzling you with warm, invoking and provocative reds. Combined with the sight of seeing your love enjoying the moment with you, and embracing them just enhances the sensation ten fold and becomes imbedded into your memory like a picture in time, to see and remember for all time. Think about it! What do you think?

Identity

This is another piece of work that is about the human form. For this project I tried to take the sexuality, individuality and identity away from the subject, so that the audience does not just look at the photo and see it in one go. They have to explore the photo and engage with it to figure out what they are looking at.  I wanted to create a facade of mystery with in the image, hence why the image is in black and white and the vast majority of the image is empty space. In addition there is only a small amount of light on the subject, to illuminate their body.
A bit of info, the camera used was a Canon EOS 450D with a 50mm lenses and one pro light with a snoot in a studio.

human form

This work is about looking at the human form. My idea was to try and make the human body, resemble white marble statues. I chose to use a male model in this as I think you can get more androgens poses that take away then sexuality and identity of the person so you can objectify them. I like they way in which I have only captured parts of the nude, using a harsh light that makes the nude blend into the background, making them intertwine. This has created an atmosphere of piece, serenity and purity. In doing so makes it more about art and substance than sexual desire and voyeurism.  These pictures were taken on a medium format camera, Hasselblad 500c with 120 black and white film, a studio, pro lights, a sink lead and a light meter. These photographs have been developed and printed by me and then I have scanned them onto a computer, which is why there is some dust. Which I do apologise for as that is not the best of quality. However I hope you enjoy.

Also if u like this style or are interested in nude photography, two of my favourite photographers are Robert Mapplethorpe and Edward Weston.

Hayley

This work was a documentary assignment, where I had to find someone and document there lives and produce a body of work. In this I did not simply show what they do in their spare time or there hobbies. I chose to add a personal element to it, and expressed my feelings and thoughts about the subject in my photographs. I used a Pentax 35mm film camera with a flashgun.

Death at a graveyard

These photographs are of a local graveyard in Gosport at midnight. Some of the photographs were taken with a flashgun; others were taken with a long exposure. This needs a tripod than can hold your camera and to manually change your camera settings to make your shutter speed longer and to open up you’re aperture. I wanted to take photographs of graveyards because I have always liked the idea of photographing graves as you are taking a picture of the last resting place of that particular persons body, which could be argued as documentary. Either documenting graves or am I in fact documenting the miscellaneous the unknowing and indescribable reality of death. In addition capturing the writing that is in essence a small part of their bibliography.  Think about it. Enjoy.

WAR

These 3 pieces that I have created, with the use of Photoshop is a photomontage and is about war. Each montage shows MY feels and opinions. One shows MY options why war starts, one shows the destruction it creates at home, and the other shows the destruction abroad. I made these last year in my first year at uni, and all the images are found on the internet.
